Free “Mozambique” Film Screening at the Egyptian Theatre for 7th Artivist Film Festival

We are happy to announce that a documentary short by teenager Alcides Soares, a participant in Venice Arts’ project in Mozambique, The House Is Small But The Welcome Is Big, will screen at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as part of the 7th Artivist Film Festival on Saturday, Dec. 4. The film, titled “Mozambique,” is about finding home and family after losing both parents to AIDS. The film will screen along with “Coexist” and “Maasai at the Crossroads.” Please spread the word to your friends and we hope to see you there!

The House Is Small But The Welcome Is Big is on exhibit at the United Nations through December 11, 2009 before traveling to Colorado Springs, Colorado. This project is a Social Art Initiative of Venice Arts, with HIV + South African women and Mozambican children who have been orphaned by AIDS. Read more

Over the past two years an unlikely group of amateur photographers has documented the life and death struggle of HIV/AIDS in Africa. Eighteen children from Maputo, Mozambique, orphaned by AIDS, and 15 HIV-positive women in Cape Town, South Africa, pointed cameras at images in their communities to tell the uncensored story of their lives.
