Free “Mozambique” Film Screening at the Egyptian Theatre for 7th Artivist Film Festival

We are happy to announce that a documentary short by teenager Alcides Soares, a participant in Venice Arts’ project in Mozambique, The House Is Small But The Welcome Is Big, will screen at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood as part of the 7th Artivist Film Festival on Saturday, Dec. 4. The film, titled “Mozambique,” is about finding home and family after losing both parents to AIDS. The film will screen along with “Coexist” and “Maasai at the Crossroads.” Please spread the word to your friends and we hope to see you there!
Neal Baer, M.D.: Mash-Ups: Merging Photography with New Media for Social Change

Drawing on the work of Venice Arts and other organizations, photographers and writers, Neal Baer, M.D. will give a visual exploration of how photography and new media are acting as compelling advocacy tools for community storytelling and social change.
Baer is a Harvard-trained physician, practicing pediatrician and award-winning television writer and producer. Since 2000, he has been the showrunner and executive producer of the NBC series Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Before his tenure at Law & Order: SVU, he was a writer and executive producer of ER. Baer is a board member at Venice Arts, where he has been a co-creator of Venice Arts’ current, international documentary projects, and a co-founder of the Institute for Photographic Empowerment, a joint project of the USC Annenberg School for Communication & Journalism and Venice Arts.
