FotoKonbit is a non-profit organization created to empower Haitians to tell their own stories through photography. They teach photography workshops to children and adults. Fotokonbit is a community of photographers building an archive that shows Haiti through Haitian eyes.

On January 21st and 22nd, our friends at PhotoPhilanthropy will host a group of leading practitioners in the field of visual storytelling for a weekend of discussions and presentations in San Francisco.
On Saturday, January 21st, there will be a live judging event to decide the winners of the PhotoPhilanthropy Activist Awards, and, on Sunday, January 22nd, there will be a series of panel presentations on visual storytelling for non-profits.
BagNewsSalon on the Visual Framing of the Great Recession

On Sunday, October 16, our friends at BagNews will host a BagNewsSalon webinar discussing the visual framing of “The Great Recession.” The Salon will include photographers who have been covering the recession as well as visual academics who specialize in the visual rhetoric of poverty and social welfare. 2011 Angkor Photo Festival

Created in 2oo5, the Angkor Photo Festival is the first photography festival to be held in Southeast Asia. Each year the weeklong event features exhibitions and outdoor slideshows by celebrated and emerging photographers in Siem Reap. The strong educational goals of the Angkor Photo Festival sets it apart from other photography events. At the free Angkor Photo Workshops, renowned photographers tutor emerging Asian photographers, while the festival operates its own outreach program, the Anjali Children’s Photo Workshops.
2011 PROGRAM
Like the previous editions, the 7th edition of the Angkor Photo Festival does not have a themed program, but proposes to discover -or rediscover -artists from all over the world. Consistent with the festival’s mission of highlighting emerging Asian photographers, 6o of the 11o photographers exhibiting in 2o11 are from Asia. Angkor Photo Festival is a place to meet, connect and dialogue with friends and fellow photography professionals.
