One of the first photographs Evelyn Mansilla ever took was of a peaceful landscape of rolling hills peeking out through a thicket of trees. Not a single soul or a speck of garbage was visible, which was almost miraculous, since she took the photo inside the sprawling municipal dump where she and her mother often joined dozens of neighbors to scavenge.
